I was surprised to find out that they offer a gluten free pizza. The crust is not the best that I have had but it’s certainly no the worst and well, when you’re doing a great wine tasting on a Saturday it’s good enough so you can continue enjoying the day.

The staff is laid back but great to work with finding other gluten free options if you’re not feeling like pizza at the moment. The anti pasta plate is what I tend to go for. Mmmmm, meats and cheese!

Ok, I have found with I think is the best gluten free pizza in Nashville! Garlic Jim’s at 4115 Mallory Lane, Suite 212 near Cool Springs rocks! The drive is a little far for me in Donelson, but it’s well worth it. The crust is just right, not too thin and not spongy like others. They offer almost every variety of their pizza’s in a gluten free option normally $3 more than the regular pizza. Sign up for emails on their site as they send out coupons almost every week with great specials, no need to pay full price

So I finally was able to try out Matteo’s Gluten Free Pizza out in Cool Springs. While I truly appreciate the trouble they went through to create this and know they use top quality ingredients, I have to say it is far from my favorite. I had the Italian sausage one and my wife had one with black olives. The sausage was large pieces, I generally prefer crumbled. The crust reminded me of a thick whole wheat crust, I prefer thin crust. So all in all, it was not a hit with me. I do, however, think this would be perfect for children or a party that you need to get something together quick for. If you truly want a great pizza in Nashville, I still think you need to take the time to go to Whole Foods and grab a pizza crust to make your own or go to Dad’s Gluten Free Pizza.
